With all of the Hippo Hysteria going on this year, how on earth could I continue the Year of Hippos without a mascot?! Many of you have probably realized by now that stuffies are one of my absolute favorite projects to knit. I have one on the needles at all times, and I have given away most of them as gifts.
Roxie’s name definitely has a story behind it. Hippos all started back in 2015, I wanted a Christmas colorway that brought back fun memories with my sister - when she was 3, her favorite song that year was “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.” She played it non-stop, over and over and over. Even as an adult, I cannot get that song out of my head during the Christmas season. So, the colorway “Hippo for Christmas” was born! The writer of that song is John Rox, so I thought it was only fitting to give her his name!
The reason I love stuffies so much is because they bring a smile to my face every single time I complete one. And! Best of all - they are a really quick project. Sometimes I can’t commit to a big project, but need a quick gift, this is the perfect solution! It’s also a great way to get creative with color and expression! I hope this pattern brings you as much joy as it has brought me!
